Social Action/ Tikkun Olam

Hi,
I know we're all busy over the summer, going to camp, on vacation, etc., but these ideas are some very basic ones i think everyone can manage to try over the summer. If you are looking for more ideas or volunteer oppurtunities feel free to contact me (pnwsato@yahoo.com). Also, if you have any suggestions for this list please send them to me and i'll be happy to include them.
Have an amazing summer,
Dani Nurick,

Easy Summer Mitzvah Ideas:

  • Put any extra change from any purchase into your Tzedakah box

  • Put a Tzedakah box next to your washing machine so you can put in any loose change in found in items of clothing.

  • Pick up garbage at a beach or park.

  • Show your support for causes you care about by writing letters to your government officials. Ex: the genocide in Darfur, Israel, or the environment.

  • Save energy by unplugging your hair straightener, computer, printer, or other electronics when you are not using them.

  • Put into your Tzedakah box a dime (or other coin) every day. Keepy doing this until Encampment and see how much you have collected.

  • Walk, ride your bike, or take the bus. This saves energy, and I’m sure your parents will be happier not giving you rides!

  • Go through old toys, books, and clothes and donate them
